The Shell MDS technology uses a selective and proprietary Shell catalyst to synthesize natural gas into liquid hydrocarbons ( Gas-to-Liquids or ‘ GtL ’ ). This Gas-to-Liquids ( GtL ) synthetic drilling base fluids are synthetic paraffins produced from natural gas and ideal for the formulation of synthetic-base drilling mud in oil and gas drilling activities.

This drilling mud is ultra clean, virtually free of sulphur and aromatics, odourless and colourless and safe for the environment due to non-toxic and highly biodegradable ( OECD protocols ).

These products have different grades to cover for a wide range of applications ranging from normal drilling operations to temperate, cold climate and deepwater conditions.
